Why Choose Aluminum Over Wood Docks?

Wood docks produce not only mean slivers but also sagging boards that could possibly give way when a person is entering or exiting the dock.

One of the biggest problems we see every day in this business is dry rot in wood. You may ask, what exactly is dry rot? It occurs when the wood dries out on the underside of the plank, leaving the top side looking perfectly fine. Once the rot has penetrated the wood on the bottom side, it is only a matter of time before someone will break through the dock and fall in the lake and injure themselves. This is especially dangerous for the elderly, who may not notice a bad spot in the wood before it is too late.

Adding an aluminum dock adds to the value of your property, versus the wood dock that is forever needing maintenance as the years go by. With Hotwood's aluminum dock system, you are making an investment that will last a lifetime.

Universal Galvanized Dock Pipe Sleeve

Shown on a Hotwood’s aluminum dock.

Hotwood’s is now manufacturing dock pipe sleeves that mount to the end or any side of your dock. As these are universal, you can use square-headed bolts to mount them on any type of dock that you can bolt to.

Unlike any pipe sleeves seen before, we designed these with the bolt heads offset from the slide of the pipe to eliminate any rubbing or wedging of the sleeve on the post as it moves up or down.

The mounting bracket is manufactured from ¼’’ steel with schedule 40 - 3’’ ID pipe welded and then galvanized to last for life times. The bolt holes in the mounting plate are designed to be used with ½” bolts. There are no right or left sides as they will fit either way.

The mounting bracket measures 12” tall 4” wide with 2 slotted holes to accept ½” bolts. All corners are rounded to insure less chances of injury from the product.

If you are a dock builder, this is the pipe sleeve you want. As dock builders for over 30 years, we know what is needed and not just what sells.
